I saw this girl at the Sandycove people’s market a few Sundays ago, and she caught my eye. She is wearing a fur neck warmer on her head! I loved the look and the idea that she did not stay inside the box. That’s what style is about, looking at an accessory and seeing more than just the one use for it. It looked great on her and kept her ears nice and warm on that very cold Sunday afternoon.

This girl looked so fresh and ready for the spring in her trench coat. They are all in at the moment. I loved her simple yet trendy style. Hey trench has lovely ruffled details on the shoulders that give it an added sophisticated look to the high street fashion.

This girl looked so 50’s retro from top to bottom! Style isn’t just about the clothes; it’s about the overall look. If you look at this particular style, it would not look as good if she had her hair back in a pony tail. So when you are trying to achieve a style, look at the overall picture not just the clothing. This girl has and she looks great for it! Her hair and converse are fab and I love the jeans turned up. It is so simple yet again, but is so inspiring!! Go girl!

‘Suit you sir’
This guy was with the above girl…they clearly know fashion! He looks great wearing the waistcoat with jeans, very relaxed look with a much tailored one too. He has teamed up denim with denim… ‘Dear lord how could he’ you say? But he did and it can be done! Using the two colour tones with denim it works, and with the waistcoat it finishes off this very suave look! Don’t be afraid to do the forbidden….Black and navy is good, red and pick is also good and believe it or not denim on denim works! Go with your instinct and experiment with the forbidden fruits of fashion!!

This girl is so cute, I loved her head scarf! The way she has styled is with an oversized bow at the front makes her stand out from the crowd. She got it in Wild child second hand vintage shop in Dublin. Scarves are all the rage. You can get them in high street shops as well as charity shops! My thought is to check out the charity shops as you can find real good bargains in there as well as donate money to a good charity like Oxfam or Barnardo’s. Her outfit is so cute and stylish. Her oversized navy grandpa’s cardi with her stone washed jeans and runners. Very trendy all together!

This guy was walking back from a fashion style meeting of some sort…who would have thought it!? He looks so fancy I could not let him walk by without a photo! From his Louis Vuitton shades to his stylish runners….what can I say but he oozes a certain high fashion style! He knows when he walks the walk he can talk the talk!

Dublin Street Style w/ Kelly Barnes

Life is a fashion show sometimes and the street is the runway. Check out this super cool looks from people out and about in Dublin.

Faux fab
This girl looks great in the leopard print scarf and the bright pink bag adding colour to this dull afternoon! It’s all about teaming up colour and not going over the top. The leopard print is back…so go looking in your closet for those leopard prints pumps…let’s face it we all had them…They are in there somewhere!!!

Military man
This trendy Trinity student was strolling the grounds on his way to a lecture when I stopped him! I love his look I had to take a picture. He is wearing the pale skinny jeans with the white plimsolls, which is all in at the moment for girls and guys. The outfit is finished off with the retro military jacket. Also loving the purple T he has on underneath! I love men who can wear bright colours…well saying that, I am not too sure if I’m liking the yellow jeans that are supposedly in this summer for men…ummmm we will have to see?!!!

The musketeers
Do I really need to say anything? These three look like they have walked out of a magazine! They are all very individual and trendy in their own way with a very out there with their style! What I love about this style/look is that is all about your confidence. Anyone can wear what they are wearing; you just have to believe in it. The only one thing is it is a lifestyle. If you’re gonna go for this trend, the hair will have to get chopped and dyed, in with the new and out with the old. You will have to invest in the look when it comes to the clothing. The best place to start is in the charity shops as well as the any vintage second hand shops. They will supply you will all the right things from shoes, coats and hats! It’s a good trendy look that will be in fashion longer then the nautical retro look!

Fringe-tastic!
Plaid/tartan is a trend that never goes out of fashion and this girl can prove that! What I love with this outfit is that she teams up the plaid with the latest Brogue shoes which are everywhere you look these days! They are hard to style well without looking like you work in Topshop. She has teamed it up good and they look like they were made for her!

Flower power
I love this look she has gong here! The hat is just a plain black hat, but she has jazzed it up with a flower pin and it’s gorgeous. Anyone can do this with any old tops, hats and coats to bring them back to life. There are loads of the flower pins in Pennys at the moment so quickly get your hands on them! The faux fur jackets are all in at the moment and she has gone for the leopard look with her Chanel bag and teaming it up with converse! It’s a very funky relaxed style she has gone for that you cannot find in the magazines, this is pure fashinista styling on her part! I love it!

Booty call
This very stylish couple know that shoes were made for walking! She wears the wellies (which is hard to pull off) and he wears the latest metro sexual boots. Wellies ARE hard to pull off especially when a lot of people think any type of welly will do! IT WON’T! Any flower looking wellies should only be seen at a festival in the rain, not on Grafton Street while shopping! Look around and see what works. Always go for a simple plain colour when trying something new out as you can always team is up with funky accessories!

Bag it
How hot and stylish does this guy look? The scarf, the navy coat, the bag, the boots…. he just oozes style, with a touch of effortlessness. You can tell he is one of these guys that doesn’t even think about what is the latest trend is, he just puts on what he likes and looks good! What grabbed my eye was his bag. Not many men wear bags, but when they do it should be a nice leather man bag like this one! I don’t know how guys walk around without a bag, I honestly feel naked without one!

Ugg
OK, I hate Uggs, but when you look like her you can get away with anything! She just looks so Bo-Ho Chic. She has a very individual look with her lace dress over the jeans with that gorgeous colourful cardy. She looks cosy and warm in her outfit. A style ready to do lunch, shop, go to college, or jump onto the couch in front of the fire for a nice evening in front of the telly! It is hard to get all those looks into one outfit…especially with Uggs!

The love bugs
This couple are just looking so retro and shlick while waiting for the dart! It’s hard to believe they are getting over a bug and not feeling the may west..I can only imagine what they look like on a good day! Loving her gold bag which finishes off their look!

Cool Busker dude!

It’s the hippest of the coolest of all the fashion weeks. Where cool Britannia kids like Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof sit front row along beside Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, and where Victoria Beckham can gossip with Kate Moss.

It kicks off this Friday 19th February at Sommerset House, with non other than Irishman Paul Costelloe opening the show at 9am, and it all finishes up on February 24th.

Last year we saw a revivial of big shoulders, monchromes and furs.

Diane Kruger-a bit of a Goddess really

“Sex! Violence! Espionage! Her icy, cool beauty has never failed to turn heads”-too right! Diane Kruger is one of the few women who is sexy enough to appeal to the male masses while also maintaining an untouchable air that keeps female fans intrigued.

Stylistically, she falls somewhere between the polished Kate Bosworth and the quiky Queen Chloe Sevigny. She’s one of the few actresses who always seems to get it bang on and is perfectly appropriate no matter what. No more so than in her latest spread with Interview. An unquestionably perfect mix between high-fashion, glamour and raw sex appeal. Perhaps the ultimate ultimate “Kruger”?!

Swap Shops – Swap Idol

Posted on: April 9, 2009

Swap Shops; the perfect answer to ‘ out with the old, in with the semi – new’. No one wants to pay full whack for new clothes these days, and while we may all have 3 wardrobes full of clothes, we are sick of them and customizing may seem like a great idea, bit do we ever really have the time? So why not get rid of those jeans you will never wear again and that dress that you love but just cant be seen in again, and get yourself an entire new wardrobe. And it can all cost you nothing!

Swap shops are popping up everywhere, and one such is Swap Idol. Set up by Wendy Doyle, it takes place on Saturdays in the Shebeen Chic on Georges Street Dublin. All you have to do is bring in your unwanted clothes and you are given tokens on the basis of what you bring and these tokens are then used to buy something else that someone may have brought in. Can’t find anything you like, then redeem your tokens on your next visit

If there is no swap shop near you why not set up your own. Get a group of friends together and agree on the dress size and the standard of clothes to be brought, whether its high street, designer and so on so everyone gets a fair deal. Now you can look good. Have new clothes and clear out all that clutter!
